Bidin Yatim was born in Perlis, Malaysia in 1958. He received his Ph.D in Multivariate Statistics from Exeter University in United Kingdom in 2005, M.Sc in Industrial Mathematics from Aston University in Birmingham, UK in 1985 and B.Sc. honours in Mathematics and Statistics from Nottingham University, UK in 1982. He has been serving Universiti Utara Malaysia since December 1990 as a senior lecturer and was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in 1996. Prior to December 1990, he served as a tutor at Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (1982), a lecturer at Institut Teknologi Mara (1982-1983) and lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (1984-1990). He served as Deputy Director of Research at Centre of Research and Consultation, UUM (1993-1994), Deputy Dean of School of Information Technology, UUM (1994-1995), UUM Senate Member (1991-1996), the member of the Board of Director, UUM (1995-1996) and the Director of Center for Testing, Measurement and Appraisal (2008 – 2012). He specialized in Multivariate Statistics, Resampling Techniques, Sampling and Survey Techniques, Research Methodology, Structural Equation Modeling and Instrument Development. He handles classes, supervises Master and PhD students and engages in research in his specialized areas. Dr Bidin Yatim is a Member of Malaysian Institute of Statistics (ISM) and Malaysian Psychometrics Society.
